Representatives of our Department of California Executive Committee were in attendance at the 2022 National AMVETS Winter NEC Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. In attendance for the AMVETS Department of California were Dept. 2nd Vice Commander Lukens, Southern Area Commander Roybal, Dept. NEC Person, Harrison, Dept. 1st Vice Commander Durbin & Dept. Commander Smith.

AMVETS 2nd Vice Commander Jeff Lukens was on hand February 27, 2022 for a special appearance by Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23) at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District. After the special program, 2nd Vice Lukens shared some exciting news about upcoming AMVETS Dept. of California programs benefitting veterans. We’ll be rolling out an announcement soon.

AMVETS Commander Greg Heun visited the Department of California for a brief tour of commendations and other special events near Department Headquarters.
On Sept 20, 2021 AMVETS Commander Heun visited Post 56 Tulare, CA to present Past National Commander Pidgeon the AMVETS National Riders Guardian Award Recipient 2021. Commander Heun also presented local resident Richard Torrez Jr Olympic Games 2020 Silver Medal Super Heavyweight with an award from AMVETS for his recognition and awareness in the Suicide Awareness Program.
The following day on Sept 21, 2021 Commander Heun was escorted by Executive Director Smokey Rickerd to the Central Valley Stand Down in Fresno CA, where he was able to visit AMVETS Thrift Store as they gave away clothes to the community. National Commander Heun was also able to visit the Fresno AMVETS thrift store where he was given a tour of the shop operations by the store manager Mark Zimmer.
